Situated within Melbourne’s Central Business District, the Hotel Sophia is a boutique-style hotel in a convenient location. Sophia is a new, boutique hotel containing 43 fully ensuited rooms built on the former Golden Age Hotel site. Named after Sophia Loutaris, who was reknown for her hospitality and warmth, we aim to bring that same generous spirit to you, our guest.

We are able to offer modern and comfortable facilities in a central CBD location, thus making our hotel the perfect choice for the budget conscious traveller or business guest, who desires attention to detail and a convenient location.

Most major attractions are within walking distance and Federation Square and the MCG are an easy tram ride away. So whatever your interests and desires Hotel Sophia makes a great base from which to explore the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne.

At Hotel Sophia we offer light-filled rooms with different levels of accommodation starting from our Standard rooms through to our more spacious Superior rooms which are perfect for the business traveller or a family. We also offer full disable facilties in two of our rooms. All rooms come complete with security card access for peace of mind and lift access is available to all four floors. Most of our rooms can be inter-connected into two or three unit suites, catering for larger groups.

All rooms have ensuite bathroom, wireless and cable ADSL2+ broadband wireless connection, video on demand, openable windows, voip telephone with basic home office functionality, heating, tea/plunger coffee making facilties, granite benchtops, hairdryers, ironing facilities, guest laundry access/drycleaning and all rooms have airconditioning and heating. Most rooms have King size beds with the remainder containing Queen size beds.

PLEASE NOTE: Production of a valid credit card for the full value of incidentals is mandatory for check in. We will not check in guests without a credit card. We require a pre-authorisation of $150. We are strictly non-smoking.

We are in walking distance to the Queen Victoria Markets, Docklands Stadium (Etihad Stadium), Melbourne Docklands, the Melbourne legal precinct, Crown Casino and the Melbourne Aquarium- plus we are accessible to all of Melbournes varied city central tourist attractions by tram or by foot. From Southern Cross Station Distance: 300 metres/3 minute walk. Walk one block up Lonsdale Street and turn left at King Street. Hotel Sophia is on the next corner. From Tullamarine Airport Hotel Sophia is located 24 kilometres from Tullamarine Airport. A low cost option is to catch the Skybus Super Shuttle which leaves the airport terminal every 10-15 minutes during the day and only takes 20 minutes from the airport to the city. The new City Terminal is now located opposite the corner of Spencer and Little Bourke Streets, at Southern Cross Station. Tickets may be purchased from the driver. A taxi on the other-hand is a more expensive option and normally takes 25-40 minutes. From Avalon Airport The Sunbus operates from Avalon Airport to Southern Cross Station. There is no pre-booking required and tickets can be purchased from the Sunbus counter. The Sunbus meets all arriving and departing flights from Avalon Airport 7 days per week.
